This week in Room 9, we wrapped up our Place Value unit in Math! Your child brought home two Place Value check-ins completed two weeks apart. In between, we worked in small groups to revisit the concepts we found most challenging and strengthen our understanding. Take a look at the two check-ins together to celebrate the growth your child made across the unit!
We also kicked off our new mini unit on Money! Students created their own coin and bill “cheat sheets” to help them recognize Canadian currency and remember the value and names of each coin and bill. We then put our knowledge to work by counting collections of coins, finding their total value, and practising how to write money amounts using dollars and cents.
We’re excited to keep building our money skills as we learn more next week!
